Photograph the existing part from the front and side. Note its overall size and the position of each opening or mounting point. For a wheel assembly, include a side view of the groove and a view of the bracket feet so both profiles can be compared.

View the pattern at the scale of the whole opening. Compare the spacing of the motifs and how the edges meet a frame or adjoining panel. On paired gate leaves, look at how the pattern meets at the centre when both leaves close.

List the product name and quantity on a separate line for each reference. Mark different finishes or sizes separately. For example, list round mounting plates and square four-hole plates on separate lines, even when the quantities match.
